Computers and Wi-Fi
Do you need computers or Wi-Fi at the library? Here is everything you need to get started.
Computers
All of our libraries have open search computers where you can search the library catalogue, create a library account and reserve books.
The Main Library and the Architecture and Civil Engineering Library also have a number of desktop computers which you can use if you are a Chalmers student by logging in with your Chalmers ID. Chalmers Learning Commons at Kuggen has a computer which is chiefly meant for brief errands and printouts. You can find it in the printer room on the entrance floor.
Not a student at Chalmers?
It is possible to use a desktop computer at the library even if you do not belong to Chalmers. The Main Library at Johanneberg and Chalmers Learning Commons at Kuggen have specific public access computers which you can use once you have activated a library account. Public users are however unable to print out items.
Wi-Fi - Eduroam
Chalmers students and staff have access to the wireless network via Eduroam. You can find more information on how to connect to Eduroam on Chalmers Serviceportal.
You can access Eduroam on the Chalmers campus if you are a student at Gothenburg University. There is more information on the Gothenburg University student portal.
Public wireless network
Chalmers has a wireless network that guests and visitors can use. The network is called “Chalmers_Guest”.
You connect by selecting “Chalmers_Guest” in the list of available WiFi networks.
You will be directed to a portal where you can enter your email address, read and accept the user agreement and read the information about personal data processing.
An email with a verification link will be sent to the address you provided and here you click on the button to verify yourself.
Once verification is complete, you will have internet access for 24 hours.
Please note that the Chalmers guest network only gives you access to the internet. You will not be able to access the library’s electronic resources via the guest network.
If you are a member of the public, you can access and use the library's databases, e-books and e-journals via the public access computer terminals at the library.
Borrow chargers and adapters
You can borrow different kinds of phone chargers and adapters from the information desk, for example, if you need to connect to the TV screen in a meeting room during your visit. You need a library account to borrow these.
