Library account and loans

Yes! Anyone can create a library account and borrow printed books from Chalmers library. You will need your parent or legal guardian's written permission if you are under 18.

Our terms and conditions are the same for students and members of the public.

  • Log in to your Chalmers library account and choose "Requests and Loans" from the menu on the left.

  • Click the renew button for your chosen title and follow the instructions.

Yes! We send books back and forth between our libraries. You can collect and return your books at whichever of our libraries suit you best.

This even applies to books from the Mathematics Library at Chalmers. 

However, you cannot return books from Gothenburg University Library or the City Library, these must be returned to their respective libraries.

Yes, some e-books can be downloaded and read offline, depending upon supplier and format. Check the different e-book platforms for information on downloading options and any additional software required, for example Adobe Digital Editions.

If the book is missing completely, contact the library well in advance to order it from MTM (The Swedish Agency for Accessible Media), it may take a few weeks. Also check if your apps have a speech synthesis function that can read e-books out loud, as this can be a solution.

An interlibrary loan is a service that lets you borrow books or other materials from another library when your own library doesn’t have them. Your library requests the item for you, and once it arrives, you can borrow it like any other material. The loan period is determined by the lending library’s policies, so it may differ from your home library’s usual rules.
