Chalmers library terms and conditions

When you create a library account at Chalmers, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions.

Your library account

  • Your login to the library's resources is personal and may not be shared.

  • You are personally responsible for your loans and must respect the loan period.

  • You may not lend the materials to others and you must return them in the same state you borrowed them.

  • You are responsible for telling the library if your personal details or email changes.

  • You permit the library to contact you about your loans and reservations.

  • If you are under 18 you need your legal guardian's permission to create a library account.

The library uses the company EBSCO’s search services, so the first time you reserve a book or log in to renew your loans you will be asked to approve the creation of a personal MyEBSCO account. If you do not wish to create a personal account, then the library staff will help you reserve and renew material.

Loans and loan periods

When you borrow material, you are required to keep track of the return date and return it on time. Note that the return date may change depending on the queue. If someone request the same book that you have borrowed, the library will send an email with a new shortened return date. You must then be able to return a borrowed book at short notice.

Use of digital resources

Digital resources include databases, e-journals and e-books. They are intended for study and research and you may not use them for commercial purposes or in a way that violates copyright law. Systematic downloading is not permitted, nor is the use of software or scripts that automate downloading.

If you are not a student or employee at Chalmers, you only have access to the digital resources on site in the library.

Violations

If you violate the above rules or behave in such a way as to cause a disturbance in the library and fail to comply with instructions to remediate this, you may be suspended from borrowing rights, access to the physical library and/or library resources for a certain period of time.

Confidentiality and personal information

Information about an individual's loan, reservation or other form of order is confidential according to Chapter 40, Section 3, of the Public Access and Confidentiality Act (SFS 2009:400).

In order for Chalmers Library to be able to administer the lending of books and other library materials, we need to save and use first and last names and personal identification numbers. Chalmers is responsible for the personal data we collect. You always have the right to know how your personal data is used, have incorrect information corrected and object to our processing of personal data.
