If you need support with reading or writing, the library can help you. Here is some information on the support available and how you contact the library.
Personal introduction
You can book a personal introduction with one of our librarians. During the introduction we will show you computer software which makes it easier to read and write. We will also help you apply for an account with the digital library Legimus so that you can borrow talking books (in Swedish). You book your introduction through Chalmers’ digital learning platform Canvas.
The introduction takes between 45 minutes to an hour.
Legimus is an online library where you can search for, stream and download books and course literature (in Swedish) to your computer or the Legimus app. Based on your needs you can choose talking books or books in braille. The library will help you with your application for a Legimus account.
To gain access to Legimus, you must have a disability which makes it difficult for you to read printed text, for example dyslexia, ADHD, autism or visual impairment. The library will help you make your application.
You can access talking books via the Legimus website and app, both by online streaming and by downloading them to use offline. You can navigate between different headings or pages, make bookmarks with notes or audio annotations, and change the reading speed. You can also change aspects of the appearance such as text size, colour and font.
There are resource rooms which you can book at the Main Library in Johanneberg and at Chalmers Learning Commons at Kuggen in Lindholmen. The library's resource rooms contain computer work stations in a calm, well-lit environment. They are equipped with a variety of reading aids.
You can use the resource room for up to 4 hours per day, or longer if it has not been booked by another user.
The resource rooms are accessible during staffed hours at the library.
In order to gain access to the resource rooms you need to ask one of the contact people at the library. Once you have been given access, you can make your own bookings.
Chalmers coordinators for disability study support
Chalmers offers disability study support for students with documented long-term disabilities. We recommend that you book a meeting with the coordinators before you meet us at the library.
