Search services and databases

Through the library you get access to a large number of databases, books, e-books and articles from e-journals.

How do I find it?

A good starting point when to search for both printed material and e-resources is to use the search box at the top of the library page. You can add more search terms to the results list and use different filters to refine your search. Most of the material is available online and can even be accessed off campus if you have a Chalmers ID (CID). Read more about accessing electronic material.

In the database list (below), you can search for specific databases or platforms, both those that require login (Chalmers-ID) or freely available resources.

The database list can be filtered by initial, subject or content type, such as databases for patents, standards or encyclopedias, and more.

Different types of material and search services

Printed books and e-books

Use the large search box above to search for books, just enter the book title or the subject you are interested in in. To limit to only printed books, you can choose to filter by "Books" in the results list.

On the Request, reserve and borrow page, you will find information about how to get a library account and what applies to borrowing and reborrowing books.

The library also provides access to many e-books and major e-book platforms. Search for e-books directly in the large search box above or go to the respective e-book platform via the database list by filtering by content type "e-books". Read more about e-books.

Articles and journals

To search for articles, enter your search terms in the search box above and limit to "Articles". In the search results list, you can refine your search further by adding search terms and filtering on, for example, publication date. Read more about how to search for scientific articles in the guide Find and evaluating information.

Another way to search for articles is to use large, interdisciplinary databases such as Scopus or Web of Science. Here you can perform more advanced and controlled searches.

Tip! Read more about different tools and browser extensions for simple navigation to articles and e-journals.

You can find the library's printed journals by entering words from the title in the search box above. In the results list, you can refine your search further by selecting the type of source, for example "Magazines".

Many journals are in our closed storage and need to be ordered. Use the reserve button and fill in which issue(s) you want.

Special collections at the library

Chalmers Library holds special collections featuring materials related to Chalmers’ history and academic fields.

On the page Special collections and archives, you will find a list of all the library's special collections and information on how to order materials from them.
